The Golden Circle includes the UNESCO Heritage site Thingvellir National park, Geysir hot spring as well as the mighty Gullfoss waterfall. After visiting these three top attractions we will make our way towards the South Coast of the island en route to our accommodation for the night. We will have the chance to visit both Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls as well as the magnificent Reynisfjara black sand beach before heading to our accommodation close to the village of Vík.

Day two – Vatnajökull Glacier & Jökulsárlón:
Glaciers are on today’s agenda! As we keep on with our ring road adventure and move further South-East we will pass Mýrdalsjökull glacier and drive through vast lava fields before reaching Skaftafell National Park which is part of Vatnajökull National Park where Europe’s largest glacier lies. Once there we will start our glacier exploration, setting off for a glacier hike on one of Vatnajökuls outlet glaciers. After our hike, we will be stopping at the popular Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon where you can explore the lagoon that is covered with floating icebergs. Our accommodation for the night will be in Höfn í Hornafirði.

Day three – East Fjords:
Today we will explore the East fjords of Iceland, a scenic drive on narrow roads in steep hills. The first stop in Djúpivogur village where we can also stop for lunch. After some refueling, we will thread our way through the east fjords towards Egilsstaðir where we will be spending the night. Before we reach our hotel for the night, we will go on a short hike to Hengifoss waterfall, second highest waterfalls in Iceland, dropping down into a magnificent canyon.

Day four – Lake Mývatn area:
Heading to the northern part of the island we will pass the wilderness of Möðrudalur valley before making our first stop for the day at Dettifoss waterfall, Europe’s most powerful waterfall. After some exploration of this beautiful phenomenon, we will make our way to Lake Mývatn area where you will get the chance to experience the magnificent landscape around the lake and snap some photos of its surroundings. Among Lake Mývatns highlights are Námaskarð, Hverfjall crater and Dimmuborgir lava field. We’ll make a stop at Mývatn Nature Baths, where you have the opportunity to bath in the hot spring pools. The entrance fee can be added when booking or paid on site. For those that don’t wish to go in the water, they can stroll around the area and enjoy the views or sit down in the cafeteria. Our last stop for the day before making our way to Eyjafjörður where we’ll find our accommodation near Akureyri will be at Goðafoss waterfall.

Day five – Whale Watching in North Iceland:
In the morning, you will get a chance to explore Akureyri, the capital of the North, before we go for a 3-hour whale watching tour from Dalvík where whale sightings are quite common. The most common whales being spotted in that area, are humpback whales. After your whale watching adventure, we will make our way to the cozy village of Siglufjörður and around the mountainous Tröllaskagi peninsula before arriving at Borgarfjörður where we spend our last night of this tour.

Day six – West Iceland:
Borgarfjörður with all its splendid sights is our main focus for today. Deildartunguhver hot spring, Europe’s most powerful hot spring, Barnafoss and Hraunfossar waterfalls as well as Reykholt and Hvalfjörður Bay are among the highlights of this last day.
